leaving is liberating. and difficult. we let go of the known to move into the unknown.

i wrote this piece during our transition from home, family, friends and jobs into something and somewhere completely different. my wife and i are moving to new zealand and australia for a few years, for many good reasons, we think. but it’s a little scary to leave good things behind in hopes of experiencing a new world and finding ourselves in a new way.

sometimes it’s not about knowing or doing it right. sometimes you just have to do something. it’s easy to justify inaction with our insecurities in not knowing the right way to move forward. or we trap ourselves in an endless search for knowledge to attempt to reassure our actions. but when we push ourselves beyond our comfort zone, it changes us. usually for the better. that’s my hope.
